User Error 02:39
Lyrics: And it would seem that your sentences have become a jumbled mess, And what it is that you meant to say has been usurped by predictive text, But you don't have to reach for the delete button, You're not an error, Maybe you're not all that broken, What you see seems like fantasy, slight of hand to deceive your eyes, Your sullen head glitching back and forth until normality returns again, But you don't have to reach for the delete button, You're not an error, Maybe you're not all that broken,
2.
Lyrics: Today I combined frequency and words, In a specific order to produce beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion, And I meticulously obsessed over small details, that no one will care about in order to create this song, What exactly is the purpose? You know I'm not exactly sure, (But) the decision was mine, And I made it, You could say that this brief interruption of inspiration, Is only an example of divine intervention, And I don't think this is true, I know this because, The decision was mine, And I made it,
3.
Homo Sapien 02:59
Lyrics: Would you say this year's been a nightmare? Or has it been a blessing for your future self, I'm a caveman, round the fire and, I am ready to leave, my dwelling, it's upsetting but right, First foot, stand straight, and yell out, don't hesitate, Yeah, come back, come back, Feel the warmth collecting and your attitude reflects it,
4.
Ramble Roots 02:26
Lyrics: Liquid rivulets, reflecting light, A silver line rides north serpentine, Rolling smootly through our land, Knowing every blade and leaf like the back of our hand, Pines and palms, Soil and sand, The highest of land, Low and unrolling, Stretching teams of trees, absorbing light, Compete to see who's first to reach the sky, Below roots ramble, so discreet, Moulding every sharpened rock to the shape of their feet, Pines and palms, Soil and sand, The highest of land, Low and unrolling, Reflecting light,
5.
Lyrics: I think there's something slyly happening here, You better write it on the back of my teeth, No need for words, just braille or morse code, Carve it in the plaque so I can tongue it like a sore, All communication through the eyes and the hands, Four letter words diminished to a stare, All insinuation is subtle gesture, All enunciated like a puzzled conjecture, Semantic pragmatics, Pragmatic semantics, There's been no mincing of words in here, You better wipe that sentence off of your brow, Graffiti tags left all over the crime, Photographed, signed and fed online, All flailing arms and lips and eye brows, Four letter words augmented and spat, Blunt, crude and crafty, Self centered mentality, Semantic pragmatics, Pragmatic semantics,
6.
Lyrics: Fuzzy eyeline and shuffling feet, My brain moves my legs straddling this concrete, But can I trust it? I don't know, My head will spin in circles, swing in roundabouts whenever it's thrown, Night visions clearly not working, I'm nearly falling down, Not getting calmer now, My consciousness it cheats me, clarity deceives me, round and round, Losing my armour now, And in a small room, close to the ground, The sky extends it's arms, In blinding light and with love in your heart, Your body returns it's only charm, I hope I make it out of these streets, Snares are raining down clattering my heartbeat, The rhythm's getting harder now, I'm always outta time, expression pedal down so you think that I'm fine, This simulation's lost acceleration, breaking down, Glitching out to the sound, This hard drive incarnation, body emulation's freaking out, Sensor light's shutting down, And in a small room, close to the ground, The sky extends it's arms, In blinding light and with love in your heart, Your body returns it's only charm,

Lyrics: Awake and bleary eyed, with a crooked smile, I walked down all the old streets, and cleared out my eyes, And I passed the late night salon, Where they never sleep, And it jogged a memory, that I had failed to upkeep, I crossed the bridge, I thought about the frost, It would gather there on a day much like today, Cold from recent times, With memories thawed by the sun that comes from changed attitudes, I saw the way you came to me in three's, It's not what you think, it's how you think it dear, I walk with little care on the frosted streets, And my feet fall in line with an unfaltering beat, That can easily stray from the path, on occasion get lost, But I know it's always there ingrained in my thoughts, I'd watch the buildings, I'd see the way the many lines intersect and the spaces inbetween, It's a blank canvas, Creating new shapes to abstract, collect, inspire melody, I saw the way you came to me in three's, It's not what you think, it's how you think it dear,
8.
Lyrics: My head's a mile away, And I can feel the strings attached to my body, My footsteps, My hands, They touch, But there's no sensation, Am I in control of this man? So it goes, so it goes, so it goes, To rest my head tonight, To feel nothing and still get full credit for being alive, My body moves, In a motionless way, I dream, But I don't fall asleep, So it goes, so it goes, so it goes,
9.
Lyrics: Though they say it's ok today, you can put your foot forward, Throw your hands in the air, and exclaim, that you don't wanna move from your bed today, But it's still hard to find that voice, and difficult to tap into, Hidden crevices that don't see much of life but you, A tired voice that sings, with emotion, will echo in eternity, We are all in a panicked rush just to get our feet forward, Work our hands to the bone, just to say, that we ticked all the things off our list today, And it's so hard to find the time, where there are no disturbances, And boredom amplifies our thoughts that are never realised, A tired voice that sings, with emotion, will echo in eternity,
10.
Lyrics: We break into a room, And check to see nobody's on our trail, The rooms is dimly lit and colour blind, Though the walls echo green in line with your synesthesia, The air is heavy and tangible to touch, We stand in mirror form, I stare at your imitation eyes, Fixed on the ground and then on yourself, Do you reflect the sum of all your aspirations? You say do but the image has been reversed, I think I understand, And know that I am here to help you out, It can't reflect the waves if you don't let light out, Do you attempt to understand this reflected image? When you should strive to understand yourself, You glance towards the door, Observing that it is no longer there, I lean towards the walls, they're paper thin, You pierce the surface and thin plaster falls down to our ankles, A colour appears, And echoes down the hall,
11.
Lyrics: There came a time when I felt that I was lost, I spent most of my days thinking about my thoughts, And I said "I realise I'm not happy, And my patience is at it's end", Well you might be down and out, But you are on the mend, I think about when I was 23, My pockets they were sewn up shut but my mind was running free, And I fear that I can't go back, And it seems so far away my friend, Well you might be down and out, But you are on the mend, Maybe the point is not to turn back, Cos if your lost and turn around you'll just repeat the same old track, I'm so used to all my habits, And it's scary to make amends, Well you might be down and out, But you are on the mend,
12.
Hunter 01:25
Lyrics: So you ask for my advice, And that's a normal thing to do, We are all human anyway, I'll do my best to think this through, But let me say before I start, That if I have guidance to give, It's just a product of my life, And I can't tell you how to live, For I do not experience life through your eyes, And you can not see life through mine, And it's not necessary to accept the direction handed down to you, You don't know what you'll miss if you live through someone else's words,

about

My Bones Are Singing is the debut album from Edinburgh based one man band Astroturf Inspector. Lead by multi-instrumentalist Daniel Crichton, this project came about by chance when the musician, used to playing guitar and singing backing vocals for bands, decided to start writing his own songs. Inspired by a particularily tough period of the singer's life and supported by the boredom of lockdown the album was written and recorded in a small bedroom in Leith, Edinburgh using only an iPhone and the instruments and household items surrounding him.

Despite being a one man effort recorded modestly My Bones Are Singing manages to transcend this by mixing intricate and interwoven guitar parts, nursery percussion and gritty textures with honest and thoughtful lyrics that touch on mental health in an ever growing digital world. This raw approach to recording alongside the album's main subject matter reflects the boredom and isolation that many people would have felt during lockdown and mixes it with a joyful rhythm and upbeat melodies that help solidify a more positive outlook acknowledging that life can be full of obstacles that inevitablty help you grow as a person.

Released on Leith based record label New Teeth on the 8th April 2022.
