I am on a river. On the shore vague figures watch from among the sullen trees. Beneath the surface of the slow water is everything I am afraid of. At any moment I could be pulled under and tethered by the cloying darkness. There are things below we ignore but are constantly aware of. It’s beautiful on the water but it is scary.

I use the surface of the river as a mirror to see the things in myself I would rather not look at. I use the water to continue moving.
My anxiety, depression, fears, doubts and pain are all present in this track. All these things have been with me for years. This song, also, has been with me. It helps me stay afloat.

Cold river folds the moon in the night
I shiver wishing someone would hold my hand
and this feeling comes over me

The colours feeding off the bank come back to me
fall back, and fade.

Bad feelings come to me in the night
I never have been tall enough to keep them out
it’s all a bit much for me.

The river flowing out of me is adamant
yet slow and it’s all the rush I need

and figures staring out at me are palpable

well this figure staring back at me is more than me
more than my reflection
its all imaginary
I know that these colours bleeding out of me are multiplying
They grow
As they’re flowing out of me

I can hear the water as it calls to me by name

Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out.
